Primary Purpose
This position is responsible for providing technical expertise for specific functional or business activities. In general, the Principal Tax Analyst will (1) supervise tax staff for appropriate functional or business unit tasks related to the Principal Tax Analyst's particular area of expertise, (2) thoroughly research tax positions, (3) review work papers and research memoranda prepared by tax staff, (4) provide guidance to tax staff related to area of expertise , and (5) leverage the technical expertise to planning opportunities, legislative and regulatory analysis and advocacy, tax compliance, and tax audits.

Duties and Responsibilities

Incumbents will focus on Tax Accounting and Tax Compliance. Responsibilities are as follows:

  • Review and/or perform tax accounting (ASC 740) for the company and its subsidiaries, including financial statement and regulatory tax disclosures.
  • Oversee, review, and/or prepare the tax portion of the financial forecasts and strategic planning for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Oversee, coordinate, review, and/or prepare the company's responses to the financial statement auditor's and taxing authority auditor's information and data requests and proposed adjustments to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitor and review tax returns, work papers, memoranda, estimated tax payments, including partnership tax returns, exempt organizations, trusts, pension plans, and limited liability companies.
  • Monitor, identify, research, quantify, and effectively communicate proper tax accounting and tax return reporting positions and filing requirements arising from business activities and planning strategies implemented for assigned area of responsibility; develop and maintain professional business relationships with the assigned business units, corporate functions and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor and communicate emerging tax laws, legislation, and rulings; research, analyze, and quantify any tax impact to the company.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (not to exceed 5% of duties).
