HII s seeking a Structural Estimator to join its team of qualified and diverse individuals supporting our Systems Integration (SI) Business Unit. As the Structural Estimator, you will develop labor and ODC estimates in response to customer requests while ensuring compliance with company policies, as well as estimating system and customer requirements. The Structural Estimator will collaborate with SI leadership teams to develop pricing strategies in support of a diverse portfolio.

Preference is for individual to be based at our San Diego, CA location with periodic travel being required (<25%). Teleworking from another FSG facility may be considered for an experienced candidate. In a teleworking situation, the candidate would travel as deemed necessary to support ship check/validation efforts.

What You Will Do
  • Develop labor estimates and subcontractor Statements of Work (SOW).

  • Ensure compliance with established policy, procedures, and processes addressing cost proposal development and quality standards. Actively work to offer suggestion to enhance overall efficiency with the existing Pricing & Estimating (P&E) framework.

  • Assist the Quality Assurance office with QA Workbook development & closeout and vendor pre-fabrication quality inspections.

What You Must Have
  • 6 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant progressive experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant progressive experience

  • Experience in shipboard structural modernization and repair.

  • Working knowledge of MIL-STD-1688, MIL-STD-1689, and Standard Item 009-12.

  • Experience in development of labor estimates.

  • Experience in development of SOWs in support subcontractor solicitations.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

  • Ability to travel as needed.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret DoD Security Clearance (Must be a US Citizen)

  • Ability to interpret government Request for Proposals (RFPs) and associated reference documents.

  • Ability to interpret ship installation drawings and installation design plans.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to use them in informing and problem solving with a wide range of people.

  • Dynamic, self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to function independently, meet deadlines and achieve commitments.

  • A flexible approach to work, an understanding of working collaboratively on a team, and the willingness to be an active and supportive member of a cross-functional team.

Bonus Points For...
  • Experience planning and estimating Navy communication system upgrade installations on ships and shore stations worldwide.

  • Experience with NIWC SE3 and SE4 contracts and associated Cost Work Breakdown Schedules (CWBS).

  • Demonstrated experience in collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.

  • NDT Level II / VT Inspector Certification and Experience

  • Current Active Security Clearance

Physical Requirements
May be required to visit job site in an industrial or shipboard environment. Normally not required to lift more than 40 pounds higher than three feet above feet/floor level.
