Job Description

HII Mission Technologies Corporation supports the Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC PAC) in developing, implementing, and executing product logistics, sustainment, and acquisition of Advanced Digital Electronics across the portfolio of Department of Defense Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems. We are seeking a mid-level Software Developer to work onsite with the NIWC PAC team located in San Diego, CA (Point Loma).

Essential Job Responsibilities

* Research, design, develop, deploy, and/or modify enterprise-wide systems and/or applications software to ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions.
* Actively participate in developing computational system requirements based on project needs, develop algorithm designs based on requirements, rapidly implement algorithm designs into functioning software prototype code, and efficiently and effectively document the development process and results.
* Provide analysis, evaluation, and recommendations designed to promote economy, efficiency, effectiveness, and scalability of ISR and cyber software tools.
* Interface with researchers, human factors professionals, cognitive systems engineers and scientists to provide simulation and testing tools in hi-fidelity and immersive environments.
* Configure and develop cyber or intelligence applications with emerging technologies (e.g., Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality, touch screens, 3-Dimensional surround sound, tablets/smartphones, or wearable technology).
* Design, construct, and configure computer networks focused on supporting research and development environments, as well as production office environments.
* Work with multiple types of networking equipment (Cisco, etc.) and multiple types of computing equipment (PCs, Apple, Linux, Java, etc.).
* Support the development of research proposals as needed.
* Document testing and maintenance of system corrections.
* Meet all software compliance standards and quality standards that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints as established by the NIWC PAC customer.
* Perform independently and under only general supervision.
* Communicate clearly, proactively, and frequently via phone, email, chat, or in person.

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Mathematics from an ABET-accredited university program.
* 5+ years of experience with software development including Linux and Windows operating systems, and a modern application language including Java or C#.
* Knowledge of multiple system architectures including client, server, and distributed processing.
* IAM qualification, as required (must be certified within 6 months of hire and maintain credential throughout time in position).
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe desktop applications.
* U.S. citizen.
* Active Top Secret clearance.

Preferred Requirements

* Experience with multiple programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, and Python.
* Experience with developing high performance, multi-threaded, and distributed software.
* Knowledge of Full Stack Development for Cloud Native Applications.
* Knowledge of software ization and orchestrations including Kubermetes.
* Knowledge of Development, Security, and Operations (DevSecOps) methodologies, including Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, code and scanning.
* Ability to write programs and code to support the plug-in architecture of advanced mission systems.

Physical Requirements

Job performance requires adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements of the generic systems analyst discipline. Office work environment normally encountered, although work may also be performed in industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environments with hazards normally found in these settings.
