Sony Electronics is seeking an Algorithm Intern in San Diego, CA. We are looking for a talented, highly motivated intern to join the team responsible for developing next-generation visual AI solutions. The ideal candidate should have a passion for understanding algorithms and machine learning. In this role, you will be working on the implementation and validation of Computer Vision/Deep Learning algorithms for embedded platforms.

The internship is anticipated to last 6-12 months.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with AI development needs including collecting and labeling images

• Collaborate with Machine Learning specialists to develop AI models

• Evaluate the performance of machine learning models and associated algorithms by conducting functional and end-to-end tests

• Analyzing model and algorithm performance through hands-on testing and Python tools

• Develop algorithms with Machine Learning specialists to improve end-to-end performance

• Work with geographically dispersed development team to deliver best in class solutions

Minimum Qualifications:

• Senior level or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field with expected graduation of June 2024 or later

• Familiarity with machine learning, artificial intelligence, and/or optimization

• Experience programming in Python

• Strong team player, self-motivated and positive attitude

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with C/C++ is a plus

• Experience with embedded development platforms such as RaspberryPi is a plus

• Familiarity with computer vision is a plus

The anticipated hourly wage for this position is between $28.00 to $33.00. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base wage offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
