BIOVIA is looking for a junior-level Technical Writer to support our User Assistance Development team, an international team of talented writers who work collaboratively with developers, quality assurance engineers, product managers, other user assistance developers, and customer support personnel to make our products easier to use.
This position is located in Durham, NC or San Diego, CA and - Must be able to support our Hybrid work schedule 3 days in the office & 2 days remotely.
As a User Assistance Developer/Technical Writer at BIOVIA you will research, write, and maintain the overall product documentation for your areas assigned applications and ensure that the quality, technical accuracy, and customer focus are maintained in your deliverables. You will work in a fast-paced environment alongside software developers, quality assurance engineer's product managers, support engineers, and other user assistance developers located across offices in Europe, North America, and India.
- Collaborate with cross-functional and globally distributed teams across multiple time zones.
- Actively participate in all aspects of documentation development from project planning to product rollout.
- Contribute to online help, administration guides, installation guides (server/client and web-based), UI labels and messaging, and release notes.
- Serve as an advocate for our end-users in supporting a culture of continuous improvement in product usability and documentation.
- Improve the depth and quality of documentation based on feedback from internal and external customers.
- Meet deadlines and produce high quality, comprehensive, understandable documentation and online help that adheres to corporate standards.

Qualifications & Experience:
- BA or BS in English, Technical Communication, Computer Science, or a related discipline, a Technical Writing certificate, or equivalent experience.
- Recent Technical Writer Graduate or minimum of 1-3 years of experience producing technical documentation and online help in a software development environment.
- Understanding of Technical Writing methods and Software Documentation Methodologies-required
- Excellent global English communication skills
- Self-starter that enjoys spending time learning new technology
- Knowledgeable about documentation processes and tools
- Strong understanding of current industry standards and tools such as single sourcing, MadCap Flare, Adobe Acrobat, XML, HTML, CHM, CSS, PDF, image editing software.
- Comprehend complex scientific and technical data, with an ability to learn new business concepts and build product expertise.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight project deadlines
- Desired Skills-
- Master's degree in English, Communication, Technical Writing or related field
- Scientific knowledge or interest in the life sciences
- MadCap Flare user with experience building and distributing Flare output, HTML experience, CSS template management or development knowledge
- Familiarity with SDLC, Agile methodology and a Continuous Delivery environment
- Willingness to ask questions, participate in collaborative meetings, and follow a standard style guide for all user assistance deliverables
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively with globally distributed teams
- Comfortable with video conferencing and collaborative online meetings
The total expected compensation range for this role will be between $68,000 and $100,000. In determining the pay range, we take into consideration experience, pay of employees in similar positions, and other job-related factors."
