We are seeking an experienced Director, Commercial & Channel Sales (Renewable Energy Sales/Business Developer) to join our RWE Clean Energy team. This position will target clients in the municipal and cooperative electric utilities, generation & transmission utilities and joint action agency market sectors to negotiate distributed generation (solar), battery storage and community solar projects. Most of your time will be spent originating andd qualifying solar, battery storage and community solar opportunities while developing customer relationships in the municipal and cooperative utility market that will lead to contracts that drive new business and support corporate goals. You will be responsible for the origination, screening, and closing of distributed energy generation opportunities in the Municipal and Cooperative market. You will work with various teams across the RWE organization (business development, proposal generation, and project development and engineering) to achieve annual goals. This position will report to the Senior Director of Commercial and Channel Sales and will contribute directly to the achievement of RWE Clean Energy financial and strategic goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with team members to identify, screen and capture new distributed generation solar, battery storage and community solar opportunities
  • Identifying, negotiating, and closing solar, battery storage and community solar deals with municipal and cooperative utilities
  • Collaboratingwith internal and external teams in support of proposals, presentations, and other renewable energy sales pursuits. Achieving sales goals and revenue objectives
  • Working within a web-based Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software to upload, track and grow the sales pipeline, progressing these opportunities to contract/task order award
  • Traveling to customer engagements and sales presentations
  • Attending key renewable energy trade shows and conferences to uncover distributed generation opportunities
  • Developing beneficial industry relationships and strategic partners to gain competitive advantage in the markets we pursue

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required (technical and/or business degrees preferred)
  • Other certifications in sales and/or program management are a plus
  • Minimum of 5 yearsof experience in sales and business development in the Renewable Energy sector, strongly preferred
  • Successful track record of originating and closing Distributed Energy Resource (DER) deals (particularly Solar and Battery Storage)
  • Experience in originating, pursuing and contracting with Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Virtual Power Purchase Agreements, community solar (CS), leasing arrangements and/or similar distributed generation contract structures
  • Experience working with and managing channel partners and consultants to originate DER opportunities
  • Experiencenegotiating and closing solar and battery storage deals with landlords, developers, Electric COOPs and municipal utilities, regulated utilities, and other off takers
  • Familiarity and experience with utility interconnection process and other permitting processes
  • Thorough understanding of renewable energy incentives and policy, regulatory structures, Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS), and Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs)
  • Familiarity and experience with financial analysis in support of PPAs, CS and similar contract structures is preferred
  • Able to analyze customer electric utility bills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong teamwork, leadership, and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the proved ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
  • Able to build and maintain relationships with both internal and external stakeholders

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in New York is $157,200 - $235,800. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
