Job Description

Primary Purpose

Supervises the preparation and review of quarterly unaudited and annual audited financial statements for use by management, partners, lenders and outside agencies. Supervises the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial information internally to Sempra corporate and to external partners including financial analysis and other metrics required by internal or external stakeholders. Such supervision requires detailed review of workpapers prepared by staff, seniors, and principals. Performs a full spectrum of accounting, reporting and financial projects and assignments and responds to inquiries of senior management, business units management and external agencies. Works with internal and external stakeholders to identify their needs and provides guidance and expertise.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review quarterly unaudited and annual audited financial statements and support for Sempra Infrastructure Partners for use by management, partners, lenders and outside agencies, including complex disclosure information. Collaborates with other professionals within various departments (such as Tax, Accounting Research and Accounting).
  • Review and deliver monthly, quarterly and annual financial information, including analysis and reporting of various metrics in accordance with the Sempra Infrastructure Partners' Limited Partnership Agreement. Prepare additional ad hoc reports at partners' request.
  • Review quarterly and annual financial information internally to Sempra corporate in support of 10K/10Q and internal reporting.
  • Implement Sempra Infrastructure Partners financial reporting strategy, standards, processes, and procedures for accounting and systems in support of an evolving organization.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with SOX, internal controls, and relevant processes for a growing integrated entity.
  • Develop and implement innovative and automated accounting reporting tools and processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

Required Qualifications

  • Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field
  • 8+ years of Previous experience or equivalent training and/or experience.
  • Knowledge of advanced accounting and financial theory normally acquired through graduate level coursework.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles generally accepted in the U.S.
  • Knowledge of the interrelationship of tax and general-purpose accounting concepts is desirable.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems and internal controls (HFM experience is a plus).
  • Ability to convey in original written correspondence and reports, complex technical matter in a clear and concise manner, adapted to the needs of technical and non-technical clients.
  • Full understanding of the Big Picture and ability to interpret accounting and financial theories and concepts and develop alternative solutions to the Company's current business and regulatory issues to enhance competitive positioning and maximize shareholder value.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting methods and techniques and the ability to apply both in problem solving.
  • Leadership and teambuilding, organizing, planning, controlling, coordinating, and delegating to effectively manage and develop staff, and achieve organizational goals.
  • Negotiation and interpersonal skills to persuade and influence those with divergent opinions toward consensus.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's Degree
  • 3+ years of Experience in US GAAP.
  • Energy industry experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Certified Management Accountant (CMA)


HYBRID: Work a combination of onsite and remote days each week, typically 2-3 days per week.
