The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is recruiting a motivated and innovative post-doctoral fellow who shares the vision of advancing the field of immunotherapy via gene and cell therapies for rapid clinical translation of their work. The post- doctoral research fellow will gain experience at every step of the process from conception to design for an upcoming RNA- based project in the cancer immunotherapy focused Lab for Gene and Cell Engineering. This project is in close collaboration with Strand Therapeutics, a local biotech, minutes away in the Fenway area of Boston. The recruited post-doctoral fellow will receive cross-disciplinary training both by the PI and senior scientist in the DFCI lab (CAR synthetic biology, T cell bioengineering, T cell signaling biology, translational immunotherapy, high throughput screening) and by scientists at Strand (RNA synthetic biology, RNA/LNP engineering, lipid chemistry).

Responsibilities

  • Technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others and independent thought.
  • Prioritize experimental plan.
  • Works on problems of moderate to large scope in which analysis of situation or data requires a review of identifiable factors. 
  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. 
  • Work collaboratively with other postdoctoral fellows, research assistants in the group, and scientists at our collaborating partners. 
  • Maintain detailed and understandable lab e-notebooks. 
  • Interpret and discuss research findings with lab members and the principal investigator. 
  • Develop figures to depict research findings.
  • Write research manuscripts.
  • Present at scientific meetings.

Qualifications

  • Accomplished and motivated candidates will have a PhD degree.
  • Those with significant experience in mRNA/LNP research are encouraged to apply, but such experience is not mandatory.
  • Technical skills in mammalian cell culture and molecular biology are desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), and outstanding planning, organizational, multi- tasking skills, are absolutely needed.
  • It is required to have experience and a drive to work as part of a team science approach.
  • A record of scientific accomplishment as shown by a peer-reviewed original research paper(s) is desirable.
