The mission of the CCG is to facilitate the development and implementation of innovative methods and emerging sequencing technologies that directly aid precision cancer medicine efforts.

The CCG has established technology platforms to assist researchers in both genome-wide and gene-focused efforts such as next-generation sequencing, genotyping, somatic mutation detection and copy number analysis. We strive to be at the cutting-edge of cancer characterization, utilizing novel technologies and adapting existing technologies for the advancement of cancer research and personalized cancer treatment. Technologies are selected and developed with a view to discovery-oriented ventures, as well as translational medicine and clinical relevance.


This position will assist scientists in performing scientific research, development and/or clinical tasks of varying complexity. In general, this position will assist in the setup, operation, and maintenance of laboratory instruments and equipment, monitoring experiments, making observations and calculating and recording results.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly motivated research technician for the CCG genomics platforms. The successful candidate will use cutting-edge technologies for cancer mutation discovery and tumor profiling. The position involves performing molecular biology techniques such as DNA isolation and quantification, manual and automated library preparation, PCR, DNA target enrichment, 10x Genomics single-cell/-nuclei workflows, and high-throughput massively parallel (Illumina) sequencing. Duties include independently operating and maintaining equipment, generating data to identify mutations in cancer samples, completing projects in a timely fashion, providing progress updates at weekly meetings, and working in a collaborative, exciting, and fast-paced team environment.

 

Qualifications

BS required or MS with experience in molecular biology or biochemistry. Prior laboratory experience is required. Nucleic acid preparation for Next Generation Sequencing experience preferred but not required. The candidate will be self-motivated, detail oriented, responsible, flexible, and possess excellent organizational and analytical skills. Computational experience is welcome. Recent graduates with lab-experience who aspire to attend graduate or medical school are encouraged to apply, as this position is excellent preparation for school admission.
