The Research Project Manager (RPM) of the David Liposarcoma Research Initiative at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute coordinates and facilitates research activities across the funded laboratory teams at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School, as well as unfunded collaborators in other external centers.  The RPM interfaces with the laboratory and clinical research team members to facilitate collaborative research and to ensure effective sharing of data, research strategies, and other elements of this multi-team research collaboration. 

The RPM will also work closely with the Scientific Director and the PI of the David Liposarcoma Research Initiative to create a proactive, reliable, and cohesive project management and knowledge management platform that will support the research community participating in all research relevant to this funded collaborative. The RPM will also be the key organizer of the website and public symposia planned to share advances and research learnings from these efforts.  The RPM will work closely with the clinical research team of the Sarcoma Center at DFCI and laboratory researchers to ensure the basic, translational, and clinical science programs are optimally coordinated across the spectrum from basic discovery to applied clinical trials and tissue/data-based research projects.

This position will be responsible for a wide variety of operational and managerial tasks between lab and clinical research teams as noted below:

• Responsible for managing and maintaining the systems, tools, and infrastructure needed for collaborative research activities including organizing research projects, sharing data and analytics, reporting on progress and problems, and updating the initiative’s website.
• Manages the ongoing working relationships with all research team members and collaborating Principal Investigators.
• Executes the oversight of all projects designed by the Scientific Director and PI to facilitate collaborative research across laboratory and clinical research teams at DFCI as well as external collaborators.
• Responsible for scheduling and coordinating research team meetings and other program-related administrative duties and research team alliance tasks.
• Collaborates closely with the Scientific Director to develop, design, and implement research projects and interactions across teams, with a focus on execution and overall management with achievement of defined research goals and milestones.
• Responsible for planning and organizing the initiative’s annual research symposium to share research findings.
• Proactively identifies any barriers to collaborations, such as sharing resources, cell lines, PDX models, MTAs, interactions with external collaborators, and works with the Scientific Director to develop solutions to ensure success.
• Assists the Scientific Director with project reporting by lab and clinical teams and integrates across individual reports into comprehensive shared resources and research summaries for symposia and quarterly reporting for funding agents.
• Contributes significantly to study report analyses, potential for contributions to manuscript drafting and grant preparation.

• Master’s degree in scientific/research, healthcare, business or related field; PhD in scientific/research field preferred
• 5 years of experience in project and/or lab management; minimum of 3 years of project and/or lab management experience with PhD

• Strong ability to work as a member of a team and to help promote collaborative activities
• Ability to organize large and small meetings for local and international community of scientists and clinicians
• Ability to oversee project management, ensure defined deliverables are produced, and overcome barriers and challenges to a multi-team research effort
