~NC20 RECRUITMENT RANGE: $65,876 to $104,324~

The North Carolina Community College System (System Office) is a statewide network of 58 public community colleges. The system enrolls over 500,000 students annually. It is the 3rd largest in the nation based on the number of colleges. It also provides data to the North Carolina Learning Object Repository by collecting, contributing, and sharing digital learning resources for use in traditional or distance learning environments. NC Community Colleges System Office has an opening for our State Director, NCCCSO Health Science Programs position in the Programs & Student Services division, Academic Programs section. The recruitment salary is up to $104,324.

About the position

The State Director of Health Science Programs will provide leadership in curriculum development and program improvement for the North Carolina Community College System. Areas of concentration will include the health sciences. The purpose of this job is to provide state-level consultation in the development and administration of health sciences throughout the Community College System.

The salary grade for this position is NC20. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed below, along with the Minimum Education and Experience requirements, are REQUIRED to qualify for this position. We will not review resumes in lieu of the experience and education listed on the application.


  • Experience in occupational curriculum development including consulting in occupational curriculum implementation and interpretation;
  • Experience in administering guidelines and policies at the community college or state education level;
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
  • Ability to collaborate with a variety of levels of people in business, industry, and educational institutions;
  • Demonstrated thorough knowledge of technical education, teacher education, and licensure, and the various occupations found in health science curricula.
The following Management Preferences are not required, but applicants who possess these skills are preferred:
  • Supervision of health sciences department(s) at an NC Community College is preferred.

 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Master's degree in the education field to which assigned from an appropriately accredited institution and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the assigned area of public education with at least two (2) of those years in a supervisory/lead capacity;
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
