Summary of Position

The Department of Human Performance & Movement Sciences (HPMS) invites applications for a Clinical Faculty position beginning August 2024. We are seeking candidates with a record of effective collaboration across the disciplines of physical education & sport, exercise science, and management to engage students, faculty, administrators, and local physical education, sport and recreation organizations. The successful candidate will influence the trajectory of the Sport Management Program, while supporting our long standing nationally accredited Physical Education major.

The HPMS department offers a variety of majors designed for students interested in sport, recreation, performance, and physical activity. Our Sport Management degree is interdisciplinary with courses in both the HPMS and Business Management departments. Our Physical Education degree is nationally accredited (CAEP) for the teacher licensure option. For students wishing to pursue coaching, we offer our non-licensure option, Child and Youth Physical Activity Specialist. The department also offers two options within our Exercise Science degree. Finally, HPMS offers an interdisciplinary minor in Sport & Exercise Psychology that integrates behavior motivation strategies with physical activity and sport concepts. Department faculty play a large role as mentors and promote professional development through hands-on experiential learning with partners across the Monadnock Region.

Clinical faculty are full-time, non-tenure track positions, who are members of the bargaining unit. Clinical faculty focus on the delivery of instruction within specific areas, and service to the department, the college, and/or the profession. Within our 4-credit model, clinical faculty teach 16 undergraduate credits per academic semester. Anticipated courses will include a combination of pedagogical and experiential learning in both sport management and the physical education programs. Possible courses include Sport Management, Law & Ethics in Sport & Rec, Sport & Rec Administration, Issues in PE & Sport, Principles of Coaching, one Activity-Pedagogy course, Practicums/externship and Student Teaching.

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in Sport Management, Recreation Management, Athletic Administration, or related field; and at least one year of K-12 physical education teaching experience.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

Previous teaching experience with pre-professional programs as instructor, a preceptor, or cooperating teacher. Current or recently retired K-12 teacher’s license for Physical Education and Health is a plus. Additionally, the College has identified desirable qualifications that support our commitment to creating and maintaining a diverse campus community including the ability to speak a second language or to bring a multicultural perspective to the campus.

Salary Information

Salary is based on the prevailing Collective Bargaining Unit Agreement, according to which the rank minimum for an Clinical Assistant Professor is $65,720 and $61,540 for an Clinical Instructor for Academic Year 2024-2025. Salary is complemented by a comprehensive benefits package. The College reserves the flexibility to appoint clinical rank dependent upon the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
