Job Description

 

An instructor’s primary responsibility is to maintain excellence in instructing students in his/her curriculum subject with the express goal of attaining certain student learning outcomes. In addition to the primary responsibility, Instructors will be required to complete various classroom administrative duties as well as duties helpful to satisfy the goals and objectives of WCC including committee service and professional development.
 
This is a part-time adjunct position housed at the Wilkes Campus, with the possibility of online instructional responsibilities. This position may require weekend and evening hours. The adjunct position includes the following responsibilities and expectations:

Essential Duties Summary
  • Developing curriculum: Health Occupation instructors create and develop lesson plans, assignments, and course materials that cover various aspects of healthcare occupations.
  • Conducting lectures and demonstrations: Adjunct Health Occupation instructors deliver lectures and presentations to their students.
  • Evaluating student performance: Health Occupation instructors assess students’ progress and provide feedback on their performance. They may administer exams, quizzes, and other assessments to measure students’ knowledge and skill level.

 

Required Qualifications
  • Certified EKG Technician
  • Current CPR Certification

 

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer previous classroom teaching experience.

 

Physical Demands
Work is primarily performed under general supervision in an office or classroom setting with appropriate climate controls. Travel, early morning, evening, and weekend work may be required.

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently lifting or carrying objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Requires walking, standing, and sitting with some pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls.
Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details and content of the discipline, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability, and creative problem-solving skills are important.
