Summary:
The Human Resources Coordinator supports the Agency’s programs by conducting day-to-day HR tasks and activities. Maintains legal compliance and actively supports the desired working culture through the implementation of appropriate HR policies, processes and procedures and by interacting with internal management and external HR resources. Performs recruitment activities and conducts the pre-employment and new hire processes in a timely manner. Responsible for benefits administration, HRIS, and rewards/recognition programs. Serves as a resource for employee relations issues, including terminations, and is responsible for conducting exit interviews. Responsible for the maintenance of the human resource documentation and records. Assists with the HR component of the payroll process.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Provides HR expertise and takes action to ensure legal compliance. Maintains as current all required compliance postings, documentation, and communications
  • Proactively interacts with employees through timely and open communications that foster strong productive relationships between the Agency and employees
  • Accurately maintains all employee records, both electronic and hard copy, in a legally compliant and confidential manner
  • Manages recruitment process including recruitment, interview, selection and onboarding of candidates.
  • Prepares offer letters and initiates pre-employment checks in a timely manner.
  • Works with the VP of HR to administer health, welfare, and retirement plans (including enrollments, terminations, billing and reconciliations), worker’s compensation, and leave programs for the agency
  • Works with senior managers to draft job descriptions for approval by the Division Director, HR Manager, and CEO; keeps all job descriptions current
  • Works with the HR VP to administer health, welfare, and retirement plans (including enrollments, terminations, billing and reconciliations), worker’s compensation, and leave programs for the agency
  • In conjunction with the HR VP, conducts employee meetings regarding benefits, policies, and other HR information
  • Assists with onboarding for new employees.
  • Assists with processing payroll on a timely basis and ensures accurate record keeping and proper deductions
  • Creates, maintains and distributes HRIS reports
  • Implements policies, programs, practices, and procedures that support the desired working culture
  • Serves on the committee for rewards and recognition programs, including planning for employee events
  • Other duties as required
Position Qualifications:
Required
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in a human resources role
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between various agency sites and community resources
Preferred
  • HR certification or advanced degree
  • Experience in a Head Start, or non-profit organization
  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Proficiency using Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), HRIS, payroll systems and using the internet
  • Proficiency using PC, mobile devices, scanner, copier, multi-line phone system, and other office equipment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, as needed
  • Understanding and acceptance of regional cultural, religious and economic differences.
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate ideas clearly (both written and orally), listen accurately, and establish personal rapport with people from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain dignity and self-control in stressful situations; objective about personal strengths and limitations.
  • Proven logical, systematic, integrative, conceptualizing thought process.
  • Ability to work outside regular business hours to meet Agency needs
