Academic Technologies Director

 

Terms of Employment: Full-time, 52 weeks, 37.5 hours per week; generally, Monday through Friday 8 am to 4:30 pm. Flexible work hours required, may include evenings and weekends.

 

 

Classification: Leadership

 

 

Salary Range: $60,000 – $63,000 based on skills, qualifications, and experience.

 

 

FLSA Status: Salary/Exempt

Job Summary: This position is responsible for coordinating initiatives related to eLearning, instructional technology, as well as the activities associated with the Center for Online Learning. The position also manages the administration of the learning management system.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the system administration and delivery of courses using the learning management system, to include faculty and student support.
  • Collaborate with faculty to incorporate technology that will enhance teaching and learning in their curricula.
  • Coordinate the design, development and delivery of workshops and training to support the advancement of technology in teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Provide training and support to faculty in the development and delivery of courses utilizing the online classroom.
  • Implement, coordinate, and evaluate the strategic and operational plans related to online learning and in support of the College’s vision and mission.
  • Keep abreast of emerging online learning trends pertaining to external accrediting and governing agencies, technology, program, and course offerings.
  • Review and recommend appropriate software and hardware solutions that support learning and enhance the quality and effectiveness of learning environments for students and faculty.
  • Work closely with faculty and administrators to support online student support services.
  • Supervise and mentor Center for Online Learning staff as assigned.
  • Represent the College with local, state, or national organizations where appropriate or as assigned.
  • Assist CAO with academic initiatives as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

Supervision Received : Reports to the Chief Academic Officer.

 

 

Supervision Given: Provides direct and general supervision to assigned staff.

 

 

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree and one year of prior experience required in the management of a learning management system and application of related technology.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheeting, database management and electronic communication.
  • Experience with Canvas LMS, multimedia, web development, and video/podcasting preferred.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.
