Summary

Position Overview

The University of Michigan Section of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is seeking a talented clinical psychologist for a full-time clinical track faculty position. The faculty member will participate in the clinical, administrative, and teaching aspects of the Child Psychiatry Program with specific focus on psychotherapy for children and families. The applicant will be an active participant in our child psychiatry ambulatory specialty clinics and services, especially in relation to both child and adolescent eating disorders care, as part of our Comprehensive Eating Disorders Program (CEDP), as well as care of anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorders. In addition, this faculty member will be involved with multidisciplinary training of health professionals.

The candidate will join a vibrant group of faculty, partnering with a leadership team that values clinical and educational excellence and innovation. This position will report through the Associate Medical Director in the Child Psychiatry Program and work closely with faculty and staff across the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Program. Additionally, they will provide teaching to interdisciplinary trainees at the University of Michigan. This faculty member will join the thriving CEDP and Child OCD and Anxiety Disorders Programs, which are home to a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, social-workers, and trainees across many stages of training. The ideal candidate will be involved in clinical care, clinical programming, educational activities, and collaborative research within the Child Anxiety and OCD Program, the CEDP, and other relevant programs over time.

Educational Activities

Teaching and training opportunities abound within the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Program. Psychologists regularly act as outpatient supervisors and preceptors for child psychiatry, psychology, and social work interns and fellows; psychiatric house staff; mid-level providers; pediatric house staff and/or practicum and medical students. Additional educational opportunities include providing didactic lectures for multidisciplinary trainees including pediatricians, medical students, general psychiatry/pediatric residents, psychology practicum students and fellows; social work interns and fellows; child psychiatry fellows; and offering clinical skills verification as indicated. There will be opportunities to teach in core curriculum, mentorships in psychotherapy, medical student teaching, and journal clubs. The successful candidate will also be involved in interdisciplinary trainee recruitment and interviewing.

Administration

The successful candidate will be expected to attend Faculty Meetings within the Department of Psychiatry; at minimum this will include regular meetings of the CEDP and Child Anxiety and OCD Programs, Academic Staff, All-Staff, Child Psychology Faculty Meetings, and other administrative meetings deemed necessary by their reporting supervisor. In addition to timely attention to pertinent administrative work (e.g., electronic medical record and in-basket monitoring, phone calls, letters, records, e-mails, etc.), the new faculty member will participate in all relevant quality improvement initiatives and activities.

Required Qualifications*

Required Qualifications

  • PhD/Psy.D in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an from an APA- or CPA accredited clinical psychology program with an APA- or CPA-accredited internship.

  • Completion of a postdoctoral fellowship in Psychology

  • Candidates must be currently licensed and/or eligible for a Michigan full license to practice clinical psychology.

  • Board certified or eligible for certification in Clinical Psychology.

Desired Qualifications*

Specialized training and expertise in Exposure and Response prevention for youth OCD and Related Disorders, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for youth Anxiety, and eating disorder treatment expertise, including family-based treatment (FBT) for eating disorders and youth is desired.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third-party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
