POSITION DETAILS

The Office of the Senior Vice Chancellor for University Human Resources (UHR) at The City University of New York (CUNY) oversees the development and administration of policies and standards that guide Human Resources and Labor Relations functions in support of 25 colleges and professional schools across the five boroughs of New York City. This office is also responsible for strengthening and implementing policies that enhance the University’s commitment to equal opportunity and a diverse workforce. Within UHR, the Professional Development and Learning (PDL) Office designs, manages, and delivers quality training and professional development opportunities that are accessible, effective, and aligned with the University’s mission. PDL also promotes a culture of continuous learning and professional growth through various programs designed to enhance the knowledge, skills, and competencies of CUNY employees.

The Professional Development and Learning Office seeks an experienced training and learning development professional for an HR Training and Development Specialist position. Reporting to the Associate Director, Online Learning Programs the HR Training and Development Specialist creates online and hybrid course curricula and relevant materials, documentation and evaluation tools to meet specific training needs and learning objectives. They will also conduct training sessions and compile participant analytics to measure the impact on employee performance and the efficacy of training programming.

In addition to the job summary above and CUNY Title Overview below, other essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform University-wide assessments and needs analyses to identify training needs, skill gaps, and areas of improvement, and determine appropriate methodologies.
  • Develop and conduct online and hybrid training to be offered across campuses, in addition to preparing training materials.
  • Lead the creation of multimedia for all training projects, using Articulate 360 and other tools.
  • Work with department managers and subject matter experts to assess the evolving leadership, talent, and learning needs, and identify PDL resources to recommend as solutions.
  • Coordinate training development activities from beginning to end, and conduct post-training analyses based on metrics and feedback.
  • Maintain registration/attendance records of employees to prepare reports and studies on training activities.
  • Assist with planning, implementing, and assessing program development strategies and workflows.
  • Assist with special projects for the Vice Chancellor’s Office, as needed.

 

NOTE : Until further notice, this is a hybrid position, eligible to work remotely and on-site in the office.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum:

Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.

Preferred:

  • Four years of full-time equivalent experience with delivering training, instructional design, training development, or curriculum design in a higher education environment.
  • Experience with designing and developing instructional content and producing eLearning content and materials using instructional software (i.e., Blackboard, Articulate, Microsoft Office 365, Publisher, PowerPoint) and including various multi-media elements (video, text, audio etc.).
  • Effective writing, communication and presentation skills with ability to conduct training sessions using Zoom, MS Teams, Articulate 360, plus familiarity with LinkedIn Learning.
  • Detail-oriented and accurate with strong critical analysis, evaluation, and research skills to work independently and collaboratively in program planning, implementation, and assessment.
  • Professional integrity to work discreetly on sensitive assignments and manage confidential information.
  • Customer-focused with strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication and relationship-building skills to appreciate the value of others and work effectively and collaboratively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Dependable with effective organizational, time management, and priority setting skills to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Computer proficiency using administrative systems and databases, plus Microsoft Office 365 programs, and remote/virtual meeting/conferencing and collaboration tools (MS Teams, Zoom, WebEx, Skype).

  • Plans training activities, including working with internal and external instructors and site coordinators, preparing communications and marketing materials, and actively promoting available programs
  • Coordinates registration and other communications with employees enrolled in programs
  • Delivers selected training programs; monitors the delivery of training programs by others
  • Compiles data and creates reports on enrollment, trainee feedback, and other issues to determine the effectiveness of training programs and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The salary range is $79,188 - $90,375 ; commensurate with qualifications, education, and experience.
