Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

Administrative support in the Division of Research. This position will be part time and temporary to support the development of the Quantum Startup Foundry and related organizational design elements. A successful applicant will be able to provide basic office support, develop, update and restructure existing and new digital, print and offline media. It is necessary to be self-managed, capable of delivering brilliant creative ideas, create customized outcomes from specific instructions and show amazing attention to detail.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
  • Must be currently enrolled as a junior or senior at the University of Maryland, College Park in good standing pursuing a degree in graphic arts, design, communications, business management, marketing or related field.

Experience:
  • Experience creating and editing social-first video content using tools such as CapCut for sharing across multiple platforms.
  • Experience working independently to post written and multimedia content to social media platforms. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience in graphic design, marketing material development, administrative skills.
  • Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography, print, and web design, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, other graphic design software.
  • Knowledge of best practices for creating organic and paid content for social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and TikTok.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, especially as it pertains to preparing short- and long-form copy for digital distribution.
  • Willingness to learn new software and web management tools.
  • Proven ability to successfully manage competing priorities while implementing complex communications projects.
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Interest in entrepreneurship, commercialization of emerging technologies, or quantum technologies in general a plus.

Additional Information:

This position is expected to work an estimated 15-20 hours per week for a term of one year.
