Job Title: Respiratory Therapist
Department: Respiratory
Weekly Hours: 40 hours Daily Hours: 8 or 12
Shift: 7am-3pm or 7am-7pm
Weekends: Every Other
Respiratory Therapist Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Respiratory Clinical Manager, the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) will perform all the duties of a Respiratory Therapist; i.e., aerosol therapy, IPPB, CPT, ABG’s, oxygen therapy, ventilator care, resuscitations, overnight oximetry, and sleep studies, etc. In addition, will participate in continuing education and department programs as required; i.e., orientation of new employees, involvement in Pulmonary Rehab, Asthmatic Clinic, community lung screenings, etc.
Respiratory Therapist Essential Responsibilities:
- Performs, but is not limited to, all the following respiratory procedures: aerosol therapy, IPPB, CPT, ABG’s, oxygen therapy, overnight oximetry, sleep studies, mechanical ventilator care, resuscitations; adult and neonatal.
- Clinical assessment on all patients on respiratory services with appropriate recommendations to attending or ordering physicians.
- Actively participates in department inservice educational programs.
- Flexible and willing to rotate shifts or work odd schedules as needed.
- Orients new employees and/or students to department as requested.
- Acts as a resource of respiratory clinical area in absence of manager.
- Participates in clinical research projects and programs as requested.
Respiratory Therapist Education Qualifications:
- Currently licensed in the state of Connecticut required.
- Associates degree from an accredited respiratory therapy program required.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by NBRC required.
- Current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent within 3 months of hire required.
Respiratory Therapist Experience Qualifications:
- Two years experience in an acute care facility as a respiratory therapist preferred.
