Senior Program Coordinator - Safe Return

Job Description

 

To oversee the Safe Return Legal Navigator Program, the primary function of which is to refer individuals to the appropriate legal services. The Safe Return Legal Navigator program will also link individuals with the IMPACT Program as needed to address underlying social services needs. To work in partnership with municipal and superior courts to develop and maintain relationships in support of implementing client services during court sessions.

Scope of Duties:

  • Identify and implement appropriate legal referrals and linkages for individuals with matters pending before municipal courts in communities with existing IMPACT partnerships. These legal service referrals shall include referrals for criminal cases (fourth degree, disorderly persons and petty disorderly persons offenses), civil, family, and landlord/tenant matters, warrant recall, payment of fines and fees, and any other legal matters for which the individual requires assistance.
  • Identify and establish relationships with legal resource stakeholders within participating communities.
  • Establish and maintain a directory of resources relative to legal resources.
  • Engage, as requested, with referral source representatives, including municipal court staff and law enforcement.
  • Interview clients and conduct assessments to determine client needs and establish plan for appropriate referrals.
  • Liaise with IMPACT Program staff to link clients to social services where needed.
  • Prepare reports containing findings, conclusions, and recommendations as required by funding source.
  • Maintain client file as required by Supervisor, and collect data as required by funding sources.
  • Oversee daily operations of the Safe Return Legal Navigator Program to ensure that clients are provided with direct, immediate services.
  • Supervise two full-time employees including a paralegal and legal administrative support professional.
  • Interact verbally and nonverbally with clients, staff, and outside contacts professionally with respect and courtesy.
  • Maintain client and staff confidentiality in compliance with administrative policies and procedures.
  • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings, supervisory conferences, and training sessions.
  • Participate in required internal/external meetings.

ADA Essential Functions:

  • Regularly required standing, walking, sitting, using hands to handle, feel reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, talk, hear, and smell.
  • Regularly lift and move up to 25lbs.
  • Ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less.
  • Ability to identify and/or distinguish colors.
  • Ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while remained fixed on a given point.

Must possess a Bachelor’s and Juris Doctor degree, and a minimum of five years practicing law. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, outstanding analytical skills, and the ability to multi-task.
