Initial salary placement is based on verified and accepted educational/work experience in accordance with the current City College of San Francisco Faculty Salary Schedule. The annual salary range upon entry is from $65,900 to $100,610 for 175 days of service or pro-rated for one semester or fewer days of service. New full-time faculty hires will have two additional service days, in their first year of service only, for the purpose of attending mandatory new faculty orientation. They will receive “independent flex credit” for such attendance, but no additional pay.

Position Description
The Program Director will lead the TRIO Writing Success Project by hiring and supporting program staff, organizing program services and events to support first-generation and low-income students, and managing the program’s budget, records, and activities for compliance with college and Department of Education guidelines. The Director will write the grant application for the program and ensure that the program meets the objectives of the grant.

Job Duties
1. Under general direction, assume responsibility for the coordination and management of the CCSF TRIO program working with low-income and first-generation students, and students with disabilities.

2. Monitor and evaluate the program for compliance with college and Department of Education accountability and reporting requirements; conduct ongoing program review; evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services; develop and implement changes to improve effectiveness.

3. Develop academic support service systems appropriate to TRIO students in collaboration with Instructional Student Services faculty.

4. Develop promotional materials for dissemination to targeted interest groups on campus.

5. Monitor assigned budget including budget expenditures; prepare budget reports as required.

6. Select, train, motivate, and evaluate assigned personnel including counselors, classified staff, and student assistants and tutors; provide day-to-day supervision; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures.

7. Maintain and facilitate a regular schedule of counseling, registration, transfer, scholarship, and career exploration events and appointments as determined by program needs.

8. Understand the organization and operation of the District, College, and of outside agencies as necessary to assume assigned responsibilities.

9. Research, compile, analyze, and interpret information and data.

10. Prepare and present comprehensive narrative and statistical written and verbal reports including a variety of mandated and requested College, state, and federal reports.

11. Direct the maintenance of a variety of reports, records, and files related to assigned activities.

12. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

13. Work with and exhibit sensitivity to and understanding of the varied racial, ethnic, cultural, sexual orientation, academic, socio-economic, and disabled populations of community college students.

14. Environment: Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting.

15. Supports and engages in an innovative culture of culturally responsive, inclusive and anti-racist practices as it relates to student success with an awareness of student equity gaps.

16. Participates in ongoing training on diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism to center pedagogy.

17. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with community college students with disabilities, various sexual orientations, and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.

2. The minimum qualifications to teach any master’s level discipline In which learning assistance or tutoring is provided at the college where the coordinator is employed;

OR

Earned Master’s Degree in Education, Educational Psychology, or Instructional Psychology from an accredited institution, or other Master’s Degree with emphasis in Adult Learning Theory from an accredited institution; OR THE EQUIVALENT ;

OR

Hold a fully-satisfied LIFE California Community College Basic Education Credential (California credentials were no longer issued after July 1, 1990).

Desirable Qualifications
1. Experience in closing student equity gaps, engaging in equitable practices, and motivating TRIO Student Support Services Program ( SSSP ) target populations toward the successful completion of the postsecondary education, or knowledge and enthusiasm about implementing practices that achieve these goals. TRIO student support program target populations include low-income students who are first-generation college students and students with disabilities evidencing academic need.

2. Experience working with at least one of the eight federal TRIO programs as a participant, staff member, or both.

3. Previous experience in program design, management, and implementation requiring partnering with multiple agencies, programs, and complex system collaborations that included direct experience with the target student population (i.e. economically/educationally “disadvantaged” populations)

4. The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the job and/or learn within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned duties:

Principles and practices of budget preparation and administration

Grant management procedures

Student case management principles and practices

College admission and financial aid requirements

Principles and practices of fiscal, statistical, and administrative research and report preparation

Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations including local, state, and federal laws, regulations, restrictions, and requirements related to area of assignment.

Federal program evaluation and reporting requirements.

Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy

Office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and applicable software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases

5. Experience in teaching English, ESL , or Learning Assistance, or working as a Counselor at the community college level.

6. Demonstrated knowledge of community college programs and services.

7. Demonstrated promotion of diversity and consciousness of difference.

8. Demonstrated work on projects and activities that empower the underrepresented and underserved.

9. Demonstrated cultural competence and cultural humility.

10. Demonstrated focus on activities and projects that actively seek to disrupt institutional and/or systemic barriers that adversely impact historically marginalized communities.

11. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

12. Evidence of successful instructional experience at the university or college level using culturally responsive pedagogy.

13. Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of inequities in higher education and a commitment to rectifying policies and processes that restrict access for historically minoritized and disproportionately impacted students.
