Posting Summary	Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Laboratory Technician within the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. A lab technician position is available for a highly motivated candidate in the group of Dr. Shin-Heng Chiou at Rutgers University Cancer Institute in New Jersey, USA. The lab technician will participate in a research program designed to uncover T cell clones with anti-tumor activity. The position provides an opportunity to be part of Dr. Chiou’s research group within a multidisciplinary setting encompassing both basic cancer biology as well as immune oncology. The research program is translational and integrated with the laboratory of Dr. Christian Hinrichs. The ultimate goal of this research program is to uncover new T cell receptor (TCR) sequences that have high anti-tumor functional avidity for the development of engineered TCR-T cell therapy against epithelial malignancies. Qualified candidates must have basic training in immunology and/or cancer biology. We are looking for highly motivated individuals who have great passion for science and strong desire to explore the unknown. Salary will be commensurate with experience. The group will be located in the Rutgers University Cancer Institute in New Brunswick, NJ, which is within easy commuting distance from both New York City and Philadelphia via public transit.   Among the key duties for this position are the following: Conducts multidisciplinary research in the area of immuno-oncology.   Prepares written reports of the research experiments.  Gives oral presentations of the research on a regular basis. Assists in packing, unpacking, storing, and classification of lab supplies and specimens.  May give suitable instructions to Laboratory Assistants, Service Workers, and other non-professional workers and monitor the performance of their work.  Performs standard laboratory procedures, including but not limited to the maintenance of mouse colonies, involved in making required tests and analyses. Assists with experimentation and research activities.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience	Associates Degree in a relevant science
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities	Must be proficient in bench work, tissue culture, and molecular cloning.  Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications	Bachelor’s degree preferred.  Computer literacy desirable. Experience with handling mice preferred.  Effective oral and communication skills.

Physical Demands and Work Environment	PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lifting up to 25 lbs.  WORK ENVIRONMENT: Lab environment. Moderate noise. Exposure to blood, excrement, antineoplastic drugs, and possible exposure to infectious and communicable diseases. Universal precautions are mandatory. Exposure to hazardous chemicals.
