The Office of Summer & Winter Sessions offers graduate and undergraduate courses in an accelerated format that serve as an opportunity for our students, as well as visiting students and community members, to access college courses, accelerate degree completion, meet degree requirements, pursue professional development, and gain college experience. Summer and Winter sessions also provide employment opportunities and teaching experience for our graduate students, faculty and lecturers.
Posting Summary
Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking a Program Coordinator II for the Office of Summer & Winter Sessions. Reporting to the Director, the Program Coordinator II will be responsible for assisting the Director with administrative duties and activities related to summer and winter sessions. This position will also serve as the coordinator for new academic programs, special projects, and initiatives.
This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:
  • Works with internal and external partners to develop and implement new programs
  • Creates and implements administrative guidelines and procedures for each program
  • Provides administrative support, prepares reports, reviews applicant data, creates and maintains databases, conducts web research, organizes emails, and assists in the development of program-specific online student applications
  • Provides backup support to the Business Specialist by assisting with day-to-day administrative activities that include, but are not limited to, hiring processes and procedures, procurement, student support services, and other duties as needed to facilitate departmental goals

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Requires up to two years relevant experience in an administrative function, good communication and interpersonal skills, and computer literacy

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in continuing education and/or professional development programs in a higher education setting preferred. Knowledge of continuing education certification, credentialing, and digital badging best practices preferred
  • Experience with student engagement, relationship development with stakeholders, and the ability to collaborate with individuals from different departments, programs, city and state offices is preferred
  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written), independent decision-making, interpersonal & collegial skills, and the ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment.

  • MS Office Suite, IMS, Course Scheduling System (CSS), Drupal on Pantheon, Social Media platforms, ANCOR, Canvas, EAB, Qualtrics, Constant Contact, and Adobe Creative Cloud
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Summer and Winter Sessions is a fast-paced, student-focused, and collaborative environment
  • Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends. Must be able to lift boxes, materials, and equipment up to 20 lbs
