Overview
The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Marketing Manager for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). Reporting to the Associate Director of Economic Development Group (EDG), the Marketing Specialist develops and carries out the strategic marketing plans to conduct business online and on-campus for the Economic Development group within Institutional Planning and Operations.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • The Marketing Specialist will need to identify and keep abreast of key areas, issues, and services to publicize and promote accordingly in the digital and print environment.
  • Will be managing various EDG websites, email marketing campaigns, social media accounts, and online advertising.
  • Responsible for research and development of new online marketing strategies.
  • Lead all communications and establish a strategic and integrated approach to managing and updating websites to effectively promote the areas under EDG.
  • Uses data and searchable analytics to strategically think about content and user experience.
  • Uses industry best practices and leverages Google Analytics insights to report on and optimize conversion across channels.
  • Collaborates with administrators and EDG managers to coordinate events, create ads, and printed material for promotional campaigns.
  • Responsible for ensuring all messaging is consistent and aligned with the university and IP&O’s mission and best practices.
  • Implements and assesses all strategic marketing efforts and monitors time sensitive information.
  • Handles multiple projects at varying stages of the production process; requires development of a marketing strategic plan; prepares budgets and develops Standard Operating Procedures.

Work Arrangement
Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications or an equivalent combination of job experience and education.
  • 2-3 years experience in Marketing, Communications, or Public Relations industry.
Certifications/Licenses
  • NJ Drivers license and use of personal and/or University vehicles.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Requires proficiency in Design software (Adobe Creative Suite – InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop and Canva)
  • Ability to negotiate costs/services within defined parameters, selects vendors, and tracks expenditures.
  • Project management experience for all phases of promotional and merchandising initiatives focusing on strategic marketing and design elements
  • Support E-commerce marketing initiatives as needed
  • Ability to troubleshoot and implement corrective action for website and/or related environment issues.
  • Implement and utilize analytics to track sale trends and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Ability to use the internet as a marketing tool for analyzing and disseminating information
  • Setup, schedule, and drive maximum sales for product launches and limited edition sales utilizing various lead-capture and pre-order strategies
  • Designs and conducts surveys and provides data, analysis, financial and other reports.
  • Knowledge of printing terminology, image resolutions
  • Ability to create paid social media campaigns and develop social listening capabilities and influencer programs across all social platforms; test and analyze approach for optimization of platforms
  • Experience with building and optimizing email marketing campaigns with proven results
  • Requires strong communication skills and the ability to speak in front of an audience
  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks; interact successfully with a wide range of individuals at all levels of the Rutgers community to successfully attain project goals
  • Experience in HTML, design skills, Adobe Creative Suite, website page design, website form design, and responsive design
  • Familiar with accessibility compliance and its place in the digital environment
  • Understand digital marketing best practices and leverage Google Analytics insights to report on and optimize conversion across channels.
  • Ability to modify backend of websites
  • Ability to develop Standard Operating Procedures deemed necessary and appropriate
  • Creativity and attention to detail are required
