Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Student Programs Coordinator for the Office of Sorority and Fraternity Affairs. The Senior Program Coordinator for the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Affairs is one of four full-time professionals working with the Rutgers University fraternity and sorority community. The Rutgers fraternity/sorority community serves as a vibrant home to over 3,000 students who are members of 25 Interfraternity Council, 22 Multicultural Greek Council, 8 National Pan-Hellenic Council, 10 Panhellenic Association, and 12 Professional Fraternity Council chapters. The Senior Student Programs Coordinator reports to the Director of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs. The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs is part of the Division of Student Affairs.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Advises the Greek Programming Board, co-advising members of the Dance Marathon Central Planning Team, and advises chapters placed on special status related to Annual Report performance. In addition, duties will include coordination of several all-Greek events including the fall/spring awards programs, fall Philanthropy Week, spring Dance Marathon week and spring Senior Recognition week.
  • Administers the three fraternity/sorority honor societies, providing TIPS training and coordinating the annual Advisors Academy.
  • Collaborates with the rest of the staff to prepare for fall/spring semester, administer fall/spring recruitment, conducts orientation for newly elected community leaders, and actively participates in staff retreats & weekly meetings.
  • Works with national fraternity and sorority professional staff, volunteers and local alumni(ae) advisors.
  • Develops and maintains strong and effective working relationships with key university departments such as: Dean of Student Office, Student Centers & Activities, Student Conduct, Counseling and Psychological Services, Cultural Centers, and Recreation.

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.
The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Master’s degree preferably in college student personnel administration, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Event planning experience (budgeting, event planning, project management, marketing); attention to detail, the ability to work on an accelerated timeline, the ability to partner with colleagues, and network with vendors.
  • Work experience as a fraternity/sorority headquarters professional and/or in fraternity and sorority life at a college/university.
  • Knowledge of issues and challenges facing undergraduate students in general and members of fraternities and sororities in particular.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to function as a member of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Membership in a fraternity or sorority
  • Two to four years full-time experience as a fraternity/sorority headquarters professional and/or fraternity/ sorority life at a college/university.
  • Demonstrated experience working with international/national fraternity and sorority offices to help resolve issues relating to collegiate chapters.
  • Commitment to continued personal and professional development.
  • Active, intentional and ongoing engagement with diversity – in people, projects and communities – recognizing, understanding and appreciating the culturally different ways in which people express themselves.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • This is a “hands-on” position that occasionally requires moving and lifting event/program supplies (boxes, tents, tables, etc.) and standing for 3-4 hours at a time.
  • The position will require some evening and weekend work associated with the programming aspects of the position.
Special Conditions
  • Ability and willingness to work outside of normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
  • Frequent night and weekend work is required.
