Brief Summary of Job Description | The Department of Physics and Astronomy at University of Nebraska-Kearney is seeking applicants for a postdoctoral position in computational magnetism in the group of Dr. Aleksander Wysocki. The position is a part of the HEXAMAG project supported by the “A High-Throughput Computational and Experimental Approach to the Design of Unconventional Magnets” grant. |
Job Duties | The research work will focus on the discovery of new unconventional magnetic materials using ground state and finite temperature high-throughput electronic structure calculations. The successful applicant will 1) perform research work in cooperation with the faculty mentor and his collaborators, 2) prepare peer-reviewed manuscripts, 3) present research results at scientific conferences, 4) actively participate in HEXAMAG collaboration meetings and activities, 5) actively participate in university-sponsored training for post-doctoral research associates across campus. |
Required Qualifications | 1) An earned PhD in physics, chemistry, materials science, or related field 2) Good communication skills 3) Ability to work collaboratively. |
Preferred Qualifications | 1) Experience with ab initio electronic structure calculations. 2) Experience with high-throughput calculations and/or machine learning techniques 3) Scientific programming skills |
