Position Description
Advertised Job Summary | Under limited supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Research Assistant Professor will conduct research on projects: Advanced Characterization of Accident Tolerant Silicon Carbide Cladding and Impact of Hydride and Hydride Distribution on the Mechanical Strength of Accident Tolerant Fuel Clad. Job duties to include: (1) Contributing to laboratory research on mechanical characterization of advanced nuclear fuel materials, aerospace materials, and renewable energy materials such as batteries and fuel cells; preparing and perform measurement with various instrumentation requirements. Construct test protocols and train students to execute test protocols; (2) Preparing research progress reports, maintain accurate and detailed records of laboratory experiments and share finding via meetings, conferences, and publications; (3) contributing to the preparation and submission of research grant funding proposals; and (4) assisting with supervision of students, serving as 2nd reader of graduate thesis. |

Required Education and Experience | PhD in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field plus a minimum of 5 years of postdoctoral research experience in nuclear material testing by the start date of employment |
