Applications are invited for one tenure-stream faculty position at the associate professor rank with a targeted start date of September 2024. This recruitment seeks an individual to develop an outstanding research program in neuroscience focused on how experience induces long-lasting changes in synaptic transmission that ultimately patterns excitatory synaptic connectivity.  The successful candidate’s research should also leverage the strengths of ongoing research within the Department of Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh (http://www.neuroscience.pitt.edu/ ), and the extensive, impactful, and growing neuroscience community in Pittsburgh.  Our integrative research environment is exemplified by the Center for Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh (CNUP; https://www.cnup.pitt.edu/about , which bridges the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and Carnegie Mellon University. Successful candidates will be expected to manage an established independent research program, participate in teaching neuroscience to undergraduate and graduate students, and contribute to the interactive and collegial local neuroscience community. 

Required qualifications are a doctoral degree, postdoctoral training in neuroscience or a related field, a record of teaching a neurophysiology course to undergraduates, and a record of research excellence focused on synaptic plasticity in the central nervous system. Desired qualifications include a record of service, a record of training graduate and/or postdoctoral scholars, a sincere interest in contributing to the educational mission of the department, and a desire to be part of an interactive community
