Molecular Biology and Environmental Science Tenure-Track Positions

Job Description


The Department of Biology and Environmental Sciences at Auburn University at Montgomery is seeking to fill multiple faculty positions. Two of the tenure-track Assistant Professor positions (other ranks considered) are in Molecular Biology. These new positions will enhance existing research strengths in cell and molecular biology to support a proposed interdisciplinary MS program in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Preference will be given to candidates pursuing research topics that emphasize training in fields related to biomedicine or biotechnology. The department also seeks to fill one tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Environmental Science. The ideal candidate for this position should have a strong background in one or more of the following fields: atmospheric science and climate change, hydrology and water quality, energy and sustainability, environmental chemistry, toxicology and pollution, environmental geology and soil sciences, environmental impact assessment, environmental policy and regulation, or human dimensions of environmental issues.

In all cases, applicants must have a Ph.D. (relevant postdoctoral experience preferred) and will be expected to develop a funded research program involving undergraduate and graduate students. The successful applicants also will participate in undergraduate and graduate instruction and must demonstrate a passion for working with and mentoring students from underrepresented backgrounds.
