The Tobacco Research and Training Program (TRTP) of the Department of Behavioral Science at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center has an open position for a post-doctoral fellow interested in tobacco research .

This fellow will work under the supervision of Drs. Janice A. Blalock, Jason D. Robinson, or Francesco Versace, depending on interest. Areas of interest can include vulnerable populations (e.g., psychiatric or medical comorbidity, underserved populations), emerging products, novel pharm acotherapy and behavioral treatment evaluation, community outreach, mHealth, or behavioral neuroscience, as related to tobacco research.

The TRTP provides rich opportunities for collegial interaction and an exceptional infrastructure for conducting tobacco research. The TRTP consists of 11 faculty members who pursue both distinctive programmatic research and collaborative research involving multiple investigators, as well as clinical activities and patient care. In the past 5 years, TRTP faculty have accounted for over $42 million in peer - reviewed grant support. Fellows will have access to research space, research staff support, specialized equipment (e.g., fMRI, rTMS), and mHealth and other programming resources. MD Anderson is located within Houston's Texas Medical Center, one of the largest medical centers in the world. Houston is the fourth-largest city in the United States, with dynamic cultural and recreational resources and an affordable cost of living.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The postdoctoral fellow will collaborate on ongoing externally funded projects and will assist in data collection, data analyses, and results interpretation. The fellow will contribute to grant writing and publications, receive mentoring and training toward the goal of becoming independent scientists, and pursue their own research interests, with the goal of submitting an external early career award grant and first-authored publications.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate for this position is a highly motivated individual with a strong work ethic and interest in a career as an independent tobacco researcher . The ideal candidate has strong verbal and written communication skills. Candidates must have a doctoral degree in psychology , neuroscience, or an equivalent discipline at the time of appointment.

POSITION INFORMATION
MD Anderson follows the NIH stipend levels as outlined by the Kirchstein - NRSA . This full-time trainee position will provide a salary between $56,484 to $68,604, dependent upon the years of postgraduate experience.
