Posting Summary
The Rutgers School of Business–Camden offers several Graduate Programs, including the Online MBA, On Campus MBA, Professional MBA, Online MAcc, Online MSBA, On Campus MSBA, and Online MSF-Wealth Management, as well as various Graduate Certificate Programs and additional programs under review. The candidate for this position will be responsible for managing the school’s Graduate Programs across the lifecycle of the students in the areas of recruitment, application, academic advising, registration, retention, and graduation. Specifically, the Assistant Dean II facilitates the admission for students in the Graduate Programs, including coordination of efforts with the Associate Dean of Graduate Programs, Marketing and Recruiting Team, and the Undergraduate Programs Team. In addition, the position manages relationships with campus-wide offices, including admissions, financial aid, career coaching, and other student and program support services.
In consultation with the Associate Dean of Graduate Programs and the Dean, the Assistant Dean II of Graduate Programs develops, implements, and evaluates programs policies, and services to meet the needs of students in the following areas: academic, judicial, student life and activities, career development, and/or special populations. The Assistant Dean II evaluates academic credentials; designs intervention programs for students who are experiencing difficulty; and provides academic, personal, and career counseling and advice.
Additionally, the Assistant Dean II develops special projects, activities, outreach, and student leadership programs and training; and serves as a liaison to university departments. The Assistant Dean II supervises staff, may negotiate and authorize contracts with vendors within university limits, develops programs, and assists with budget development. The Assistant Dean II works independently within broadly defined work objectives and utilizes a solid understanding of the theoretical and applied bases for the field of specialization. Further, this position functions as a seasoned professional in the area of expertise.
This position reports directly to the Associate Dean of Graduate Programs. This individual will supervise the Student Counselors and other Student Support Staff for the Graduate Programs. The position is responsible for preparing and presenting accountability and program progress reports to the Dean, Associate Dean of Graduate Programs, Area Heads, and Program Directors. It is expected that the person in this position will be able to work independently as well as within a team with broadly defined work objectives.

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
Requires a bachelor’s degree in an area associated with business and/or higher education counseling or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of student development and program management, particularly of online programs. Also, requires a minimum of five years’ experience in the area of higher education; excellent communication skills; and computer literacy.

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree preferred. An advanced knowledge of current trends and theories in academic advising is preferred in this position. Continued participation in appropriate professional development activities, including but not limited to NACADA membership and conference participation is expected. Experience working with undergraduate and/or graduate students; the ability to work successfully and effectively with diverse student populations, including but not limited to first generation, socio-economically disadvantaged college students, commuter and adult students; student learning outcomes, recruitment, and assessment experience; and experience developing initiatives and programs to recruit students and to support student success. Experience with developing and implementing advising strategies to improve retention is preferred.
Equipment Utilized
This candidate will regularly use Microsoft Office suite, including Access database Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. The candidate also regularly uses Rutgers University’s programs, including, but not limited to: RUTADMIN, ImageNow, Course Scheduling System, Degree Navigator, and e-College, among others.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Availability to work evenings and occasional weekends.
