Description:Saint Mary's College of California invites applications for one tenure track position in Accounting, at either the Assistant OR Associate Professor rank, starting Fall 2024. The qualifications for each rank are discussed below. Our primary teaching needs are in Accounting Information Systems, Analytics, and Auditing, but candidates from all areas of accounting are encouraged to apply. The School of Economics and Business Administration (SEBA) is AACSB accredited and has highly respected undergraduate and graduate programs.

The faculty member will teach accounting courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate level. Teaching assignments for Accounting faculty at Saint Mary's College of California typically include face-to-face courses at its Moraga main campus and hybrid (i.e. combination of face-to-face meetings and Zoom meetings) graduate courses.

The faculty member is responsible for meeting scholarly academic (SA) qualifications per AACSB guidelines upon hire and consistently maintaining SA status. This means, approximately and at a minimum, having two peer-reviewed publications and an additional scholarly item (such as a presentation or another publication) in any five-year rolling window. (We use the Australian Business Deans Council Journal review list to determine the quality of publications.) Applicants are automatically SA for five years after earning a Phd.

All faculty also contribute to the mission in alignment with Transformation 2028 strategic priorities and as it relates to diversity, equity, inclusion and justice, and interdisciplinary programming. Teaching is the primary focus of the College, and all faculty serve the College and community in many ways, including academic advising, student and community outreach, participation in departmental and College-wide committees, and the development and assessment of the College's Core Curriculum. Faculty are also encouraged to teach the College's Core Curriculum, January Term, and Collegiate Seminar programs.

The salary range for this position is reflected in the Faculty Salary Scale, available here. In addition to base pay, salary supplementals are offered for this discipline and determined by current Faculty Salary policies in consultation with the Dean and Provost.


Qualifications:
Candidates must hold a doctoral (i.e. "terminal") degree in accounting or related fields from an AACSB accredited institution upon hire. If the "terminal" degree is not a Ph.D., the terminal degree must be in the same field as the courses the candidate will teach. Candidates must be SA qualified per AACSB guidelines as described above and demonstrate the ability to remain SA qualified.

Clear evidence of teaching potential. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching their own courses and who can provide evidence of effective teaching.

Demonstrated research potential and an articulated plan for future research.
