Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Project Manager in the Neurology Department within Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Responsible for overseeing research and related activities in the Hu Lab, including assisting the PI in fiscal, budget, and business planning; monitoring study progress (initiation, recruitment, conduct, close-out); establishing community relationships and outreach; and related activities. Responsible for the implementation of fiscal procedures and expansion plans in the Hu Lab and affiliated research activities within the Division. Supervises all of the financial, budgetary, and personnel functions of the Hu Lab.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Assists the PI in supervising scientific progress, budgets, and personnel in all funded and developing initiatives.
  • Compiles weekly recruitment data for review; prepares analysis and figures for grant applications and manuscript submissions; prepares and submits documentations for Institutional Review Board (IRB) review, including initial applications, amendments, progress reports, and study close-out; obtains other local or federal regulatory approval for funded and developing studies.
  • Stays up-to-date with scientific literature relevant to the scientific missions of the lab and projects.
  • Supervises the development, preparation and execution of budgets; evaluates proposed plans of organization and proposed methods of organization as submitted and budget requests; administers the grants’ budgets and approves all grant expenses; advises PI of all pending grant expiration dates in order to complete expenditures and move personnel in a timely fashion; evaluates budget requests and makes recommendations thereon in all respects, including special problems of organization and administration; within budget limitations and policies and with a view toward budget implications, takes the lead in and assists with the development and application of financial programs and policies.
  • Comfortably communicates to research participants with memory issues in a clear and concise fashion.
  • Assists the PI in supervising recruitment and consenting of subjects for research studies, including attending community-based recruitment events.
  • Serves as data integrity officer to ensure detailed study data documentation, security of files pertinent to participant study data, continuity of research during personnel transitions, compliance with study mandates and federal regulations.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a health related field plus six (6) years of relevant experience, preferably at a medical clinic/center or an institution of higher education.
  • Two (2) years of experience at the supervisory/managerial level.
  • Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written skills and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to work well on a team.
  • Detail oriented, and possess excellent interpersonal, problem-solving and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in clinical trials.
  • Proficiency in Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, Hindi, or Gujarati.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lifting up to 25lbs.

  • Work Environment: Moderate noise environment with some exposure (less than 1/3 of the time) to blood borne pathogens requiring use of personal protective equipment; some potential exposure (less than 1/3 of the time) to hazardous waste.
