Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow for the Center for Advanced Biotechnology and Medicine (CABM).
A Postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Jennifer Mulle at the Rutgers University Center for Advanced Biotechnology and Medicine (CABM). The Mulle Lab is seeking an outstanding Postdoctoral Fellow to join an exciting, fast-paced research project studying rare genetic variants associated with neurodevelopmental and psychiatric disorders.
The Postdoctoral Fellow will report to the Principal Investigator and conduct research to understand the molecular and cellular mechanisms of genetic syndromes associated with high risk for schizophrenia. This will be accomplished with the use of human cellular models, created from patient samples. The Postdoctoral Fellow will use iPSC technology including 2D cellular models and 3D organoids, to identify neuronal pathology. Training will be provided, though prior experience is a plus. The project will involve high-throughput molecular assays such as single-cell RNASeq, ATACSeq, and proteomics; cell-based assays; and experimental manipulations to intensify or correct cellular phenotypes. The project may also involve cell culture, cell sorting, iPS cell maintenance/manipulations, genetic manipulations, and computational analyses.
The Postdoctoral Fellow will be expected to develop manuscripts for publication in high-impact journals, apply for fellowships, and contribute to the preparation of grant applications. The Postdoctoral Fellow will also be expected to supervise undergraduate and graduate researchers and participate in collaborative work with other laboratories. The Fellow will be expected to maintain effective communication and active discussion related to the involved research with the Principal Investigator and laboratory members.
