Position Summary
The Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at Dominican University of California invites outstanding applicants for a Lilian L.Y. Wang Yin Endowed Associate Professor/Professor in the field of Chemistry or Biochemistry with distinguished scholarship at the Associate or Full professor level. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the scholarly activity and effective functioning of the Department and, through teaching, seminars, or other intellectual contacts with students, shall add to the enrichment of the academic life of the campus as a whole. This position is critical to the growth and expansion of the chemistry program within the Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and the School of Health and Natural Sciences. The successful candidate will be expected to promote and lead to make lasting impact within the program and University.

Responsibilities

  • Rank and track will be commensurate with experience
  • Engage in teaching and scholarly activities
  • Maintain an internationally recognized research program involving undergraduate and/or graduate students
  • Direct undergraduate research projects that produce publishable results
  • Participate in service at the department, school and university levels
  • Initiate and participate in promotion of the department and in recruitment and retention of students
  • Recruit and provide mentorship to faculty
  • Advise students on coursework and career development
  • Uphold academic performance standards and integrity
  • Work collaboratively in a diverse environment
  • Required Qualifications

  • PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field
  • University teaching experience
  • Postdoctoral experience
  • Google Suite: Docs, Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Sheets, and Slides
  • Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Zoom
  • Digital Camera
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Established internationally recognized research program in chemistry and/or biochemistry
  • History of procuring extramural funding
  • Solid track record of publication
  • Have an active research program that can be transferred to and is appropriate for Dominican University of California
  • Candidates must have the ability to implement initiatives to recruit and promote.
  • Additional Position Information

  • The endowment will provide special financial support to the individual selected to augment their research.
  • The initial term of the endowed professorship is for six years and is renewable.
  • It is expected that the holder of the endowed professorship will advance appropriately through the faculty ranks based on their teaching, scholarly activities, and service to the University and community.
  • Priority will be given to applications submitted by November 3, 2023; however additional applications may be considered until the position is filled
