Assistant/Associate Professor - Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging, McGovern Medical School- MRI Research

Job Description


McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, a leading academic health center, invites applications for an Assistant and/or Associate Professor of Radiology to work in Houston, Texas. The Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging is seeking an MRI specialist with pulse programming and MRI testing experience to join the PET/MRI Research Section.

The selected candidate will contribute to the department’s mission to educate health science professionals, discover and translate advances in the biomedical and social sciences, and model the best practices in clinical care and public health through research, teaching, clinical service, administrative activities, and other services.

The radiology department supports a broad spectrum of healthcare and teaching activities partnering with Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center and the Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital . In addition, we have active collaborations with Rice University, Baylor, and MD Anderson.  The PET/MRI research group is developing a new preclinical and clinical Theragnostic center with a newly installed 3T PET/MRI and high field (7T) preclinical Bruker system with PET insert. In addition, a new Ultrasound section was added to complement the ongoing translational research. We are expanding Artificial Intelligence as applied to medicine with the latest developments.  The selected candidate will be working with a dynamic team comprised of a diverse set of established translational researchers. Position Key Accountabilities:

The faculty in the Department of Diagnostic PET/MRI Section will be involved in providing preclinical and clinical imaging care, teaching, and supervising students, residents, and fellows in different settings. 

 

  • Developing and sustaining an environment that supports excellence and innovation in clinical research through assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating programs and standards that support positive patient care outcomes to include excellent risk-adjusted outcomes. 
  • Serving as a role model in professional behavior and leadership skills, problem-solving ability, and interpersonal skills.  
  • Participating in and/or chairing committees, work groups, and meetings at as appropriate. 
  • Assuring interdisciplinary performance improvement programs are active, maintained, and ongoing. Following up to ensure that complaints have been satisfactorily handled. Collaborating to maintain a focus on providing excellent state-of-the-art services.

 


Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree or foreign equivalent.
  • Completed Postgraduate training in Radiology or Computer Science Research.
  • Completed MRI and/or PET Safety Training (Level 1 or 2).
  • Fellowship/Postdoctoral training in fMRI and other sequences for brain mapping.
  • Advanced Sequences knowledge for Body applications.
  • Board certified in MRI Physics or board eligible.
  • Experience in the broad spectrum of imaging applications.
  • Collaborative nature and ability to communicate are essential for integrating into the vision of the section.
