PURPOSE

            To conduct research in the NSF-funded grant.

DESCRIPTION

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Study mathematical models for the evolution of fractures in elastic solids governed by nonlinear constitute relationships.
  • Perform mathematical analysis of the regularized models for fracture.
  • Develop a finite element method for the solution of the phase-field model for fracture. Implement the finite element method and run simulations to validate the benchmark results from the literature.
  • Analyze the numerical results, and develop reports for dissemination as journal publications and conference presentations.
  • Assist graduate students with their thesis projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Ph.D. in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics or related field.
  • Documented research records in the area of finite element methods and numerical methods for the solution of partial differential equations. 
  • Proficient in programming languages like C++ or Python and experience with parallel computations.

WHAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO SEE

  • Experience with mathematical open-source libraries like Deal.II, FEniCS, PETSc.

SALARY: Monthly $4,166.67 ($50,000 Annual/per Annum)
