Description:

The Employee and Volunteer Engagement Manager is a vital member of our Human Resources team, responsible for developing, implementing, and managing programs and activities to engage and retain our employees and volunteers. Under the direction of the Vice President of Human Resources, the Employee and Volunteer Engagement Manager uses proven practices for communicating to staff through various forums; implementing reward practices and events; recruiting, onboarding, and managing the assignments and individuals involved with the Foundation’s volunteer program; onboarding new staff at time of hire as well as assessing their onboarding experience at specified intervals; and taking a central role in several other employee engagement initiatives. Ultimately, this position plays a crucial part in fostering a positive and inclusive work environment while supporting the Foundation’s mission and organizational objectives.

Essential Functions:

Employee Engagement:

  • Execute employee engagement strategies that align with the organization's goals.
  • Monitor and analyze employee feedback through surveys, focus groups, and other methods to identify and act upon areas for improvement.
  • In collaboration with the HR Manager, onboard new staff at time of hire as well as assess effectiveness of the overall employee experience at specified intervals.

Volunteer Program Management and Engagement:

  • Use volunteer-management-specific software platform to oversee volunteers throughout the engagement process, from application to active status; duties include training volunteers and supervisors on use of features; tracking assignment fulfillment rates; promoting openings and recognizing involvement; and provide monthly statistical reports for program oversight and evaluation.
  • Working closely with department leaders, identify the scope of work that is appropriate for volunteers to perform and develop both episodic and ongoing volunteer opportunities based upon need.
  • Recruit, onboard, and train new volunteers, and match them to opportunities that utilize relevant skills.
  • Organize volunteer appreciation and learning events in line with organizational reward and recognition initiatives and enhanced institutional knowledge.
  • Provide training on volunteer engagement for assignment supervisors to support retention and project outcomes.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Create and curate engaging content for newsletters, announcements, emails, and other internal communication materials with the goal of keeping staff informed and engaged.
  • Act as a liaison between employees, volunteers, and management to support clear communication and transparency.
  • Lead interdisciplinary committees and work groups that focus on communication within peer relationships, teams, and leadership interactions to support organizational values.

Human Resources Operations:

  • Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations.
  • Keep up to date with industry trends and best practices to implement necessary changes in policies and practices.

 


This position is a full time salaried position with a target starting rate of $50,000/year, plus comprehensive benefits including a paid-time-off package. The Foundation pays up to 85% of monthly health-care premiums and enrolls all regular full-time employees into our life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, and long-term care policies at no cost to employees.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, Communications, or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in employee and volunteer engagement, HR, or other related roles.
  • Strong knowledge of proven practices used to advance employee and volunteer engagement.
  • Proficient in use of volunteer management systems; prior experience using Better Impact software preferred.
  • Exceptional communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team while building relationships that are mutually beneficial.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
  • Familiarity with relevant workplace laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Frank Lloyd Wright and appreciation for the mission of the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation
  • Familiarity with small to medium sized organizations and matrixed structures/reporting lines, and experience in a nonprofit workplace, particularly in an arts and culture institution, is a plus.

  • Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather and desert environmental conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • OSHA Risk Classification for COVID-19 Exposure: Lower Risk (Caution): This position has minimal occupational contact with the public and other co-workers and is therefore determined to fall within the Lower Risk category as defined by OSHA. To further minimize risk, employees are required to follow the Foundation's Safe and Healthy Workplace guidelines and related personal and facility infection control policies.
