Research Scientist, Irvine Lab

Job Description

RESEARCH SCIENTIST, Koch Institute (KI) for Integrative Cancer Research-Irvine Lab, to actively participate in the training of postdoctoral fellows, graduate and undergraduate students, and technicians and perform primary research as needed to explore new ideas or help bring ongoing projects to publication.  Responsibilities include the design and execution of experiments to support HIV and cancer immunotherapy studies in multiple animal models; documenting and presenting results; mentoring junior postdocs and graduate students on scientific method development; managing internal and external collaborations; participating in translational research including preclinical studies supporting clinical trials; maintaining detailed records of sample inventory and protocols; and collaborating to maintain a workplace that embraces teamwork and inclusivity. 

This position is ideal for a self-motivated bioengineer or immunologist with experience in vaccine immunology and/or cancer immunotherapy who would like to work in a fast-paced academic environment. 

Job Requirements:
REQUIRED:  Ph.D. in bioengineering, immunology, or a related scientific field; four years of experience working in a research laboratory; experience with immunoassays (ELISA, ELISPOT, flow cytometry); strong technical/scientific writing, interpersonal, verbal communication, presentation, time-management, planning, problem-solving, and organizational skills; supervisory and project management experience; ability to make decisions independently, work as part of a diverse team, and promote collaboration and cooperation among teams. Job #23343
