Senior Program Manager - Research (Neurology) - BRAINS Lab
Job Description
Exciting opportunity to join our (Neurology) - BRAINS Lab! Full time exempt role located at 6431 Fannin St, Houston, Texas 77030.
Develops, plans, maintains research and policy analysis. Oversees the general running of several faculty in the BRAINS Research laboratory. Ensures compliance with University and Federal policies and regulations related to animal care, bio-safety, hazardous waste, Drug Enforcement Agency, and others.
Assists in grant proposals to both private foundations and governmental agencies. Performs grant congruency for Animal Welfare Committee and Biosafety approvals.
Responsibilities include:
Maintaining up-to-date Animal Welfare Protocols
-updating experiments based on new grants (public or private funding)
-updating experiments based on preliminary data needed for grant submissions
-responding to Outcome Letters to address any stipulations or requests from the AWC committee
-adding/removing personnel
-updating funding
CLAMC:
-managing animal colonies using iCare and Softmouse (animal management software)
-coordinating with vendors for transgenic strains needed for experiments and grants
-negotiating cage space with CLAMC
Ordering:
-manage ordering software (Quartzy) for all general lab (BRANS Lab) and assigned BRAINS Lab PIs
-confirming ordered items are received and checked in
-submit EAJ for orders greater than $15,000
-negotiate price for general use/bulk order items
-work with vendors on pricing
-request quotes for specific items if not general use
Service contracts:
-work with vendors to ensure all large pieces of equipment have active service contracts
-negotiate service contracts
Personnel:
-supervise set personnel in assigned BRAINS PIs Labs
-approve timesheets
-approve vacation request
-place job postings
Visas for international students:
-work with team and UT OIA for visa requests.

Position Summary:
Develops, plans, maintains research and policy analysis. Oversees the general running of the laboratory.
Position Key Accountabilities:
In-office (laboratory), 8:30-5:00pm (flexibility required).
Ideal would have PhD and some Postdoctoral experience in lab, experience with chemical and biological safety a plus.
Certification/Skills:
Depending on research may require advanced level grant writing skills.
Depending on research may require Registered Nurse within the State of Texas.
Depending on research may require Clinical Research Coordinator certification.
May require program specific certifications.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree in science or a health administration related field.
Minimum Experience:
Seven years of applicable experience.
May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.

Residency Requirement:
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
