Position Description
Advertised Job Summary | The Department of Sport and Entertainment Management at the University of South Carolina (Columbia, SC) invites applications for the position of Research Assistant Professor. This is a 12-month professional-track position, which is under the umbrella of the University’s Bridge to Faculty postdoctoral program. The Bridge to Faculty postdoctoral program is designed to recruit talented early-career scholars, with the goal of transitioning them to tenure-track faculty members after two years. This program aims to attract and retain promising scholars to the University of South Carolina with emphasis on outreach to underrepresented early-career scholars. The successful candidate will be granted the opportunity to deepen their expertise in sport management research, expand their scholarly profile, and strengthen the College’s and the University’s research community through diverse perspectives. The Bridge to Faculty postdoctoral program, uses a cohort model wherein postdoctoral research scholars participate together in meetings and tailored workshops to prepare them to establish a research program and support their ability to pursue grants and create productive mentoring relationships. The Department of Sport and Entertainment Management is committed to building and supporting a diverse, inclusive, and equitable community of scholars and students; in keeping with the University’s goals regarding faculty inclusiveness and excellence. Primary duties for this position consist of, but are not limited to the following: a) establish a robust program of sport management research, b) teach one class per year related to sport management, c) participate in the intellectual life of the department and its research institutes, c) participate in the intellectual life of the institute and department, d) meet regularly with faculty mentors, e) participate in professional development opportunities, and f) collaborate across the college and institution when deemed appropriate. |
