Position Summary

A full-time NIH funded postdoctoral position is available in the Chromatin Biochemistry lab of Karen C. Glass, Ph.D. at the Vermont Campus of Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.

Our research team is aiming to understand how epigenetic signals regulate gene expression patterns important for development and disease. In particular, we are investigating how chromatin regulators recognize histone post-translational modifications, and how dynamic changes in the histone code alters this interaction. We use an interdisciplinary approach combining classical biochemistry and molecular biology with structural biology and biophysical methods. The lab is located in Pharmaceutical Sciences Department at ACPHS, and the PI is a member of the University of Vermont Cancer Center and Biochemistry Department. We are looking for an Ph.D. scientist with specific expertise in protein structure determination using X-ray crystallography and/or CryoEM.

Required Qualifications

Additional experience in biochemistry, enzymology, NMR spectroscopy, or molecular biology is also helpful. The candidates should have strong training and publication track record and must be able to work in a team and possess excellent communication skills. The successful applicant will conduct highly collaborative research in the area of chromatin biology, epigenetics, chromatin remodeling, gene transcription and DNA damage repair.
