Foundation Office Director
Job Description
Position Summary: Responsible for all donations within the Yankton Catholic Community Foundation. This
includes gifts given to Sacred Heart Parish, St. Benedict Parish, Sacred Heart School and others. The Yankton
Catholic Community Foundation Director is responsible for all donations, including planning, implementation,
maintaining current gifts, and encouraging future gifts given to one of the entities within the Foundation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Vision/Mission
● Along with the Pastor, creates and manages Goals for the YCCF.
● Along with the business manager, creates and manages the YCCF budget, including recommendations on variances.
● Along with the priests, promotes the Yankton Catholic Community through a variety of engagements with the
public.
● Along with the operations coordinator, implements and directs all Public Relations efforts for Foundation activities,
including those involving each parish and SHS. Helps to create promotional publications such as special appeal
brochures, letters, and articles.
● Coordinate and direct Foundation Advisory Committee meetings.
● Provide audit information as needed.
Development/advancement of our mission
● Develop, sustain, and grow relationships in the community.
● Responsible for annual Sacred Heart School funding commitment.
● Plan, solicit and manage Endowments and Agency funds.
● Plan, solicit and manage Estate Gifts
● Plan, implement, and manage campaigns/special appeals in order to achieve our goals.
● Plan and implement grants.
● Supervisor of Foundation-office personnel and volunteers to achieve efficiency and effectiveness.
● Provide a positive work environment for staff and volunteers
Essential Qualifications:
1) Primary:
● Willingness and ability to effectively make known the Catholic Church’s teachings through the varied ministry
activities expected of this position.
● Willingness and ability to act as an outstanding personal witness to the Catholic faith and religion by living both
one’s professional and personal life in accordance with the doctrines and moral teachings of the Roman Catholic
Church, as embodied in the various documents of the Roman Catholic Church, including, without limitation, the
Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church.
2) Secondary
● Experience in fundraising, solicitation, and/or sales.
● Experience in supervision of staff
.
3) Other Elements:
● Must be detail oriented, outgoing, and creative.
● This person must also care about achieving the goals set by the Foundation. They must strive to be successful in
all of their fundraising efforts.
Education:
● Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a field that would help them excel in this position.
This could include Marketing, Public Relations, Business Administration, Accounting, Computers, etc.
Experience:
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
● An understanding and working knowledge of all desktop applications included in the Microsoft Office Suite and
various web applications.
● Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment to think strategically, multitask, and
conform to shifting priorities, demands, and time lines.
● Proven communication skills, and ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals while maintaining strict
confidentiality.
