Post Doctoral Scholar supports general laboratory activities at the Emerging Infectious Disease Ecology Laboratory (TEIDEL) projects on computational biology of pathogen evolution and ecology. This individual will carry out and assist in pathogen evolution, ecology and detection with computational approaches. This individual will bring skills to create software to detect changes in microorganisms in genomes and metagenomes. This individual will help with supervision of student research related to computational biology and pathogen surveillance. This postdoc will present in laboratory meetings, frequently meet and update on progress with the principal investigator, keep strong documentation in the appropriate databases and online sources as dictated by the TEIDEL team. This individual will clearly analyze and write presentations of the resulting data, carry out appropriate researcher and biosafety training, keeps in compliance with university computational, chemical and biological safely regulation, maintain current standard operating protocols and work with Associate Professor to update the lab's computational biology protocols protocols.
