This postdoctoral appointee will be working in the Engineering Assessments and Plant Control Group in the Nuclear Science and Engineering Division at Argonne National Laboratory. A postdoctoral position is open for a candidate with expertise and experience in machine learning, image processing and nondestructive evaluation for nuclear energy applications. Knowledge and experience in non-destructive evaluation of additively manufactured metals with pulsed infrared thermography is a plus.

  • Develop machine learning algorithms for classification and segmentation of material defects in thermal images.

  • Perform laboratory pulsed infrared thermography imaging of select specimens.

  • Provide training to visitors from collaborating institutions.

  • Collaborate with others to develop new research directions and opportunities.

  • Present and report research results and publishing scientific results in peer-reviewed journals in a timely manner.

Position Requirements

  • PhD degree completed within the past 3 years in Electrical and Computer Engineering or related disciplines.

  • Background in machine learning, image processing and nondestructive evaluation.

  • Experience in active and passive thermal imaging.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • A strong record of publications that demonstrates productive research.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
