Job Summary | Dr. Ramkumar’s laboratory in the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension, Department of Internal Medicine is looking for a motivated, post-doctoral fellow to conduct research in hypertension and chronic kidney disease. Our laboratory studies the role of the prorenin receptor in blood pressure and kidney function using gene targeted mice and primary culture and cell lines of kidney tubular epithelial cells. Expertise in mouse physiological studies and cell culture is preferred. Position is funded by long-term NIH funding and will provide opportunities to work on protein-protein interaction and omics analyses. |
Responsibilities | Duties include experimental design, data analysis, manuscript writing, performing rodent surgical procedures, cell culture, collection and preparation of samples and obtaining staining and molecular data. The postdoctoral fellow will be encouraged to present at national and international scientific conferences. |
Minimum Qualifications | Minimum qualifications are a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in Physiology, Molecular Biology or a closely related field. Prior experience with rodent work and cell culture is preferred. Applicants must have excellent communication skills and possess the ability to work both independently as well as in a collaborative environment. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and will follow NIH guidelines.
