Position Qualification
Position Summary | The Department of Pathology and Microbiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center is seeking to recruit a full-time, tenure-leading faculty member in the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor with documented evidence of high-quality research in the field of vector-borne biology. We are looking for an established researcher who can lead others faculty members by integrating the disciplines of entomology, microbiology, and immunology to understand vector-borne human diseases. Preference will be given to candidates with a track record of extramural research funding and commitment to a collaborative research approach. The appointee will synergize with the existing research interests in the program, have (or exhibit the potential to build) an extramurally funded research program, and contribute to graduate education, including the successful mentorship of trainees. Applicants must have a doctoral degree (Ph.D., M.D., and/or equivalent) with at least 3-4 years of post-doctoral training or faculty experience. Salary will be commensurate with experience and will include a university benefits package. UNMC has a robust research and medical community within the growing and vibrant city of Omaha, Nebraska. The Department of Pathology and Microbiology has over 70 faculty members working in modern, well-equipped laboratories with state-of-the-art facilities, including BSL3 and ABSL3 facilities. UNMC supports novel and high-impact scientific discoveries through multiple research core facilities, including the Advanced Microscopy Core, Electron Microscopy Core, Proteomics Core, Genomics and Epigenomics Cores, Biomedical Informatics Core, and others.
