Position Summary

Dr. Mitra’s research focuses on understanding the adaptive mechanisms that promote ovarian cancer growth and chemo resistant progression under various oncogenic and physiological stressors. Her current research aims to identify the role of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress response signaling in the growth of drug-tolerant persister cells and the potential of disrupting protein homeostasis to re-sensitize chemo resistant ovarian cancer to platinum therapy.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Successful applicant will utilize multi-disciplinary approaches including cell-culture and xenograft and PDX small animal models, functional genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics to investigate the role of ER stress response signaling in chemo resistant growth and therapy resistance.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in Cancer Biology or related field. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Research experience in cancer biology or cell biology.
  • Proficiency in basic cancer biology and molecular and cell biology techniques such as cell viability and colony formation assays, real-time PCR, western blotting, immunofluorescence, and DNA, RNA, and protein isolation. 
  • Working experience with mouse models of cancer.
  • Design, organize, conduct, and analyze basic and advanced experiments using established protocols, coordinate with the core facilities, troubleshoot, and design new protocols.
  • Contribute to manuscript writing and publishing data in research journals.
  • Experience with software like ImageJ, Microsoft Office, GraphPad Prism.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to laboratory staff and trainees.

Working Conditions

This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and provide standard care to research animals.

Salary Range

Base pay is commensurate with experience.
