| Position Summary | Information about the College and Department: The Data Science Cluster provides leadership for the Data Science Research Initiative at the University of Memphis and the local community by creating a vibrant research environment and training future data scientists to build a Data Science community of practice that includes academia, government and industry in West Tennessee, the Mid-South and beyond. Summary/Duties: The Data Science Research Cluster of the FedEx Institute of Technology invites applications for a Post Doctoral position. The successful candidate will: · Conduct state-of-the-art research and development on topics related to economic modeling and general data science topics; · Use Java and Python and existing machine learning and AI software tools; · Use technologies in advanced modeling including econometrics, statistical learning, and machine learning; · Participate and collaborate with a team of data scientists with an emphasis on research, development, and implementation of new applied modeling techniques; · Co-lead the research, design, and implementation of various components of these economic and finance models; · Interact and collaborate with members of the research team to produce publications and presentations; · Evaluate, install, and maintain software packages; · Administer the computing infrastructure and activities of the research cluster. |
| Minimum Position Qualifications | A PhD in economics, finance or closely related field and at least six months of relevant research experience is required by the time of hiring. Advanced ABDs will be considered, but doctoral degree must be earned by the start date of the position. |
| Special Conditions | This position is for 12 months and is renewable for up to 2 years based on performance and availability of funding. |
