Job Description:

The Counseling and Wellness Center (CWC) at the University of Florida is seeking an Assistant Director for Psychological Testing and Assessment with experience in collegiate mental health. The Assistant Director of Psychological Testing and Assessment is a key administrative role at the CWC, as they are responsible for supervising, planning, and maintaining a strong culture for psychological testing and assessment both within the CWC and across the larger campus community. The person in this role reports to the director of the CWC and will also serve as a clinical faculty member of the CWC. The ideal candidate will thrive in an environment that values collaboration and support among team members and will work with us to nurture a healthy and healing campus environment for all. This role entails extensive administrative responsibilities in addition to some direct and indirect clinical services. 

 

Administrative Service responsibilities include: 

  • Coordinate the assessment team, including on-boarding and orientation of faculty/staff.
  • Develop and update policies and procedures for the assessment services at the CWC.
  • Attend to internal and external email questions and phone calls regarding testing, including records requests.
  • Provide in-house consultation to the counseling and support staff concerning assessment, and consultation with external colleagues as requested.
  • Maintain an adequate and continuously updated supply of testing materials, online scoring permissions and licenses.
  • Initiate equipment purchases and maintenance requests.
  • Coordinate and schedule rooms as needed for assessment team members.
  • Develop and manage the testing referral waitlist.
  • Weekly monitoring and review of the assessment team schedules for problem-solving and conflict resolution.

 

Training and Supervision responsibilities include: 

  • Along with colleagues on the assessment team, provide supervision and management of trainee needs (intern and advanced practicum students) including providing seminars, evaluating their performance, and writing letters of reference.
  • Hosting weekly meetings – facilitating that space – case conceptualizations, training topics, including the use of a rights-based approach to assessment, and writing of reports.
  • Oversee selection process for prospective advanced practicum students.
  • Assign supervisors for advanced practicum students.
  • Coordinate and oversee the completion of trainee and supervisor evaluations.
  • Serve on the Training Committee at CWC, representing the assessment service.
  • Schedule trainings for assessment team as needed.
  • Provide support for assessment team members related to procedural and technological difficulties.

 

Direct and indirect clinical service activities are primarily focused on psychological testing and assessment and may include, but are not limited to the provision of: 

  • Individual and group counseling 
  • Outreach and consultation 
  • Clinical supervision to trainees – advanced practicum, psychology interns and/or postdoctoral residents 
  • Case consultation with staff and trainees 

Our staff consists of 47 clinicians in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, and counselor education. In addition, we work closely with the psychiatry staff of the Student Health Care Center. The CWC is home to a large training program for graduate students in Counseling Psychology and Counselor Education and a doctoral psychology internship accredited by the American Psychological Association. Members of our staff are cohesive, collegial, engaged, and share a passion for working in collegiate mental health. The CWC is a learning organization as clinical service, training, outreach, and professional development are informed by research, local data, and benchmarking with national trends and peer institutions.  The CWC identifies closely with the vision, values, and guiding principles of the Division of Student Life.

The CWC provides:

  • Group, individual, and couples counseling for students with psychological, emotional, academic and/or relationship concerns
  • Crisis intervention for students experiencing a personal crisis or emergency
  • Stress management and biofeedback services
  • Outreach, prevention, and educational programs for students, faculty, and staff
  • Consultation services for students, faculty, staff, families, and friends of students
  • Training and supervision to counseling and psychology graduate students from pre-practicum through post-doctoral residency
  • Assessment and referral services
  • Teaching, research, and scholarship
Expected Salary:

Starting at $85,000, commensurate with leadership experience

Minimum Requirements:

Doctoral degree in clinical psychology, counseling psychology or counseling from an APA accredited or CACREP accredited doctoral program; (2) two years clinical/counseling experience in a college counseling center or a university – based clinic; (3) five years of experience providing group counseling services; (4) two years of experience providing clinical supervision; and (5) licensed in their current jurisdiction of practice and must be license eligible in Florida.  Employment with the University of Florida is contingent upon the results of a criminal background check.  


Preferred Qualifications:

 

 

  • Two (or more) years of experience providing clinical supervision. 
  • Previous administrative experience in a university or college counseling center
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, critical thinking and organizational skills required to develop and maintain policies & procedures.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity and commitment to multicultural issues/social justice and proven ability to interact with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Demonstrated skill in working well under pressure to prioritize and manage multiple group therapy situations and to coordinate these efforts as a part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Energy to flexibly manage the professional demands of a challenging workload while maintaining positive and healthy perspectives and relationships.
  • Strong program development and evaluation skills required for psychological testing and assessment tracking, outcome assessment, quality assurance and utilization review.
  • Self-motivated, self-directed commitment to high professional ideals, standards, and ethics
